Introduction:
This marks the country starsâ first time teaming up since 2023âs âThatâs Why We Fight.â
Koe Wetzel and Ella Langley first joined forces in 2023 with their RIAA Gold-certified collaboration âThatâs Why We Fight,â which showcased their powerful musical connection and quickly became a fan-favorite. Now, three years later, with even more success behind them, the pair of country stars have reunited for Wetzelâs latest Country radio single, âJaded.â
In the days leading up to the release, a Nashville billboard, a mysterious voicemail and a few cryptic social posts had fans theorizing that the two might be working together again. Wetzel officially confirmed the duet via social media, leading to a plethora of excited reactions from listeners who were eager to hear their voices come together for the first time since âThatâs Why We Fight.â
Co-written by Wetzel, Langley, Jordan Schmidt and ERNEST, the vulnerable new duet finds Wetzel and Langley carrying the emotions of two people who are burdened with the scars of past heartbreak. The mid-tempo track features a rhythm of twangy electric guitars, a laid-back groove and emotionally charged vocals that highlight Wetzelâs raw-edged sound and Langleyâs soulful tone.
Both of the artists speak with patience and empathy while trying to understand the walls the other person has built, in hopes of creating a space for healing.
âHowâd you get so jaded?/ Who made you like this?/ Who gave you these problems?/ Even I canât seem to fix/ Howâd you get so lonely? /Howâd you get so cold?/ I donât wanna hurt you, baby/ I just wanna know/ Howâd you get so jaded,â they sing on the chorus.
Speaking on the duet, Wetzel claimed that Langley has been one of his âfavorite people to write and sing with for a long timeâ and it was only a matter of time before they got back into the studio together.
âWe recorded âThatâs Why We Fightâ early on in both of our careers, and getting back in a room together was something we talked about every time we saw each other. When she sings, you believe it and Iâm excited we could get this one out there to the fans.â
Langley echoed the âHigh Roadâ singerâs excitement, noting that they have âknown each other and been friends for a long time.â
âHe was one of the first artists I ever got to collaborate with and one of the first I went out on the road with back in 2022. Getting to write and record another song together is special,â she shared.
Since their first collaboration, both artists have experienced significant career growth. âJadedâ comes at a pivotal moment for Langley, who has quickly emerged as one of country musicâs most exciting rising stars with a string of chart successes and esteemed accolades.
Meanwhile, Wetzel is entering a new chapter following the release of his critically acclaimed album The Night Champion in June. After the project arrived, he dropped five additional songs that were written and recorded alongside the albumâs original 11 tracks.
Koe Wetzelâs The Night Champion World Tour continues across the U.S., Canada and Australia, with a setlist featuring new music as well as some of the biggest songs from his catalog. The tour also features special guests Shane Smith & The Saints, Ole 60, Wyatt Flores, Corey Kent, Wade Bowen, Bayker Blankenship, Kolby Cooper and Logan Jahnke across select dates.
